You mean like the defacto national championship game between LSU & Alabama a couple of years ago? Yeah everybody wants to see a school from china play a school from germany way more than they want to see a neighborhood loser leaves town blood match. Your right to have that Dusty Rhodes avatar officially been revoked.
currently today, as is, there are 81 teams that are bowl eligible or 76 spots, as well as 3 others that could become bowl eligible this week. That makes a possible 84 teams (including Ga Southern and App State).
Here is what I see, Temple could defeat Tulane and become bowl eligible, OSU will probably lose to OU and Fresno will probably lose to Boise State. That would make 82 total teams, I see Ga Southern and App State not going, lowering that number to 80. I also think that UAB will not be bowling due to the program shutting down. That leaves either 78 or 79 teams for 76 spots, depending on whether Temple beats Tulane.
I think one of the SBC teams will be left out, with the other 3 claiming the SBC's bowl spots. I would also think that ODU could be left out.
Dave, Dan McDonald and I have been crunching numbers. As of today, there are 79. Temple would make 80 (likely to happen). Okie State would make 81 (not likely.)
Four will sit home. This is all excluding Georgia Southern.
I am sure the league is working the Armed Forces Bowl hard to try to get them to take Texas State. If that happens, it's likely two CUSA and two MAC are left out.
what about Fresno also not likely but possible
Fresno is in. If they are a division champion, they get to go at 6-7, as UCLA and Georgia Tech have done.
I tell you what. Give me the son of a plumber Vs. The Big Cat in a lights out loser leaves town no DQ match over the Nature Boy against anybody.
