And that is what I read ... ESPN3 already has broadcasting rights to all S-BC games. If UL signs an agreement with CST, ESPN3 would still get the feed at no cost to them.

Wouldn't that require a blackout of ESPN3 in the area? That would hurt LUS customers (no HD) and DirectTV (I don't think they have CST).

Yes, you are right ... but that is even more reason for them to attend the games, right?

Boomer, not trying to start a ____ing contest but you constantly post stuff about UL and Tobasco. After all this time it hasn't happened. Maybe you should be asking your contacts in the admin about this and why such an obvious marketing partnership hasn't happened. Either they haven't tried. Or they have tried and Tobasco isn't interested.

I think there's more here than meets the eye.

Every football game was broadcast this year. Why are we negotiating for something we already have?

Because we think we're headed somewhere we won't have this.
The existing contract is a conference one, not a school one. It does leave an individual school to have their own network agreement but any agreement must allow ESPN to pick up the broadcast at no cost to them, even if they had no plans to broadcast the game. It's a pretty sweet deal for them as well since they don't pick up a vast majority of the sports other than football.

Our game this year at new Mexico st was a prefect example of this. NMST produced the game, used their own announcers, graphics, etc but shared with ESPN3.

Hopefully the production quality (non-hd feed) is better than what RCN had previously
