Appalachian State defensive end Ronald Blair felt the only way to calibrate progress was to hang superlatives against the best.

Blair said that was accomplished Saturday when his team's defense held the Louisiana to just one touchdown in the 35-16 Cajun Field victory by Appalachian State.
