I will be driving in from Houston as well, rain or shine. I'm sure we have a large guarantee to pay to K State for this home game. Greater attendance would certainly help in paying that guarantee as well as make a statement about playing BCS competition. This is exactly the kind of game we all want at Cajun Field. I hear what you are saying, but I still don't get why it is not more attractive to people in Lafayette. I would have hoped we would be reading stories about 30,000+ expected attendance rather than ticket sales are below expectations. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate like last weekend and we will have a lot of walk-ups AND the students will be out in full force.

One school quite a bit more than the other I would think....

Question: You live in south Louisiana, why is rain such a OMG BIG DEAL?

I have a Question Re: Drop Off?

    We paid SU $100,000.
Does anybody know how much we will guarantee Kansas?
Do we pay their transportation in addition to their profits?
If we pay them the same &1000,000 and they don't have as many ticket sales. I doubt it would be worth the trip...except Lafayette is the best place to be on a Saturday night. Rain or Shine!

While I am not certain, I think this is a 2-for-1 deal and no money exchanged. At least not from our end.

Then that's a positive deal that works i favor of both schools. UL gets a home game against a bcs school, and KSU gets to schedule UL at home 2 times without having to pay large guarantee payments. They'll pocket that 800,000$ they would have paid us to come 2 times and that will round off to about 1.6 mil that they saved by doing this. Good deal for everyone involved.

It's interesting that schools with smaller stadiums like K State at 50,000 can work a 2 for 1 deal with us with no payouts. K State could not afford to pay us $800,000 for a game like LSU, for example, with 90,000+. Oklahoma State is another example that does 2-1 games as their stadium only seats 53,000. There are a number of BCS schools like that vs. those with huge stadiums that refuse to travel for OOC games.

I find it interesting that Texas is playing at Wyoming this week. I've been to a Wyoming game a few years ago when UL played them. Their stadium seats only 33,000 and there is no room for additional endzone seating like our stadium. UT had 101,000+ for the ULM game last week and can afford to make a huge payout to visiting teams, but Wyoming can't. I don't know if Texas has a 3-1 series or how they are working it, but UT loses a lot of money not playing OOC games at home, as does LSU or any school with such large stadiums, even with the large payouts. You just don't see many schools play OOC games in smaller venues. UT did the same thing a few years ago vs. UH whose stadium only seats about 30,000. UH put up temporary seating that UT said was not safe and wouldn't use, which pi**ed off a lot of alumni who couldn't attend the game and vowed not to play UH again, at least not at their on-campus stadium. Of course, they could play at Reliant where 70% of the fans would be UT.

I would like to know exactly how many UL "FOOTBALL" fans and Lafayette SU "BAND" fans showed up for the game....Like Earl Pitts would say, "you know makes me sick, you know what makes so mad, I want to french kiss an ant eater". Now that's how I feel about the so call fair weather fans..... _
I was listening to Earl Pitts once and he was talking about the time Mrs Pitts got concerns about the future and asked him what he was going to do if she passed away.

Pitts answered, "Honey, do you mean before or after I go to Hawaii on the life insurance money?".

Yep, and some people who've been in BR all week will be at this game. I'm supposed to have a 9 year old in my group who's never been to a Cajun game before.
