People better go damn fair weather fans!

Well, this is pretty sad if we can't get 30,000 for a Big 12 v. K State home game. You have to wonder why our top 2 attendance games are vs. 1AA schools. Are we in the right conference?
If Southern brought 12,000 fans, that is still 29,000 UL fans. Add to that a thousand or so K State fans and we should have a near packed stadium. I just can't believe Lafayette is not more supportive against top level competition. And, the weather has nothing to do with it. The Southern game was apparently sold out by Thursday with a 60% chance of rain. I guaranteed you there will be 90,000+ in Baton Rouge on Saturday, regardless of weather, so weather cannot be an excuse. We finally get a winnable, at home game vs. a BCS school and no one seems to care. I just don't get it. What the hell are people in Lafayette waiting for?
Let's just say that 5-6K so call UL fans came to see the "BAND". So do the math. 41,000+ less the 6K and the 12K SU fans that leaves 23K UL and the 250 KSU fans, that makes for 23,250 fans at the game. That's about right. I would like to know exactly how many UL "FOOTBALL" fans and Lafayette SU "BAND" fans showed up for the game....Like Earl Pitts would say, "you know makes me sick, you know what makes so mad, I want to french kiss an ant eater". Now that's how I feel about the so call fair weather fans.....
I'm going no matter the weather. Rain doesn't bother me in the least. There is no doubt it will knock the crowd number down quite a bit from what would have shown up on a sunshine filled day.
I would start giving out Ragin Cajun rain ponchos with the purchase of gameday tickets. I think anyone with a game ticket should be given one, and they could punch your ticket to make sure only one per customer. It's a nice freebee, keeps the crowd colors, and the extra draw should more than pay for the giveaway.
Well I guess that everyone who complained about the amount of people that attended the Southern game will be happy to see the attendance drop...
Weather is a reason for the fair weather fans not to go. LSU playing at home is also a factor. Like it or not, the majority of people in Lafayette support both schools and some folks who were here last week will be in Baton Rouge this week. Until people have confidence we will win regularly, this will be an issue. We probably need to have consecutive seasons with 7 or more wins for people to be more confident. Having said all that, I will be at Cajun Field Saturday night regardless of the weather.
I will be driving in from Houston as well, rain or shine. I'm sure we have a large guarantee to pay to K State for this home game. Greater attendance would certainly help in paying that guarantee as well as make a statement about playing BCS competition. This is exactly the kind of game we all want at Cajun Field. I hear what you are saying, but I still don't get why it is not more attractive to people in Lafayette. I would have hoped we would be reading stories about 30,000+ expected attendance rather than ticket sales are below expectations. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate like last weekend and we will have a lot of walk-ups AND the students will be out in full force.
Will be there with my new red poncho.
