The 'Name Thing" IS IN FACT one of the most important things we can talk about on this Board.
Why this Board? Why talk about it?
Because it is the only place we can vent and speak with like-minded folks who understand our issue.
I was at USL in 1984.
I know a friend who still has his U of L diploma....

This is such a big issue to me -- no kidding -- I would vote for a gubernatorial candidate who was otherwise a communist across the board but verifiably PROMISED to change that stupid 1984 law and kill the @ Lafayette.

This name change would certainly HELP:
    recruiting for all sports
    scheduling for all sports
    bowls for football
    and a NEW conference.

So - in my opinion - LONG TERM, SUSTAINED WINNING is closely intertwined with the "name issue."

We easily have a 5K more at our football games than what we report. I counted them.

It's too important of an issue to let go or not talk about, or to ease off from mentioning just because people are tired of it. It has nothing to do with which name you want to lose with. I don't want to lose period. Trying to deflect the issue into winning and losing just undermines the real importance of why this university should and one day will be called The University of Louisiana. Mentioning the lack of focus with the UL administration and identifying a trend, does in no way, take away from how the team won or lost a game or how they played. Berating people that are trying to make a difference or fighting for this or even mentioning it, will not make this go away either. Those that don't understand the importance of this issue would be the first ones praising it when it becomes reality on a national basis.

So what else are you doing about it besides talking about it on this board where everyone agrees with you is the point I think he was trying to make. I'm not trying to be rude about it, but it's kinda preaching to the choir on here. Pretty sure everyone on here wants to win the name battle and uses the name we all want daily.

Well, there are at least a hundred threads that you can go to and talk about the name issue. Every single thread gets derailed though. For once, I'd like to see a gd thread that doesn't talk about the name or what the announcers are calling us. Take it to another thread if you wish. It's old, it's tiresome, it's beating a dead horse. It has been 15 years of the saaaaaammmmmeeeee dam whining and complaing on every single thread.

And if you don't like the refs, go out and become one so you can show them how it's done. Plenty of folks here on this site can hook you up with an LHSAA official. Plenty of teams would love expert officials...ask most losing teams' fan base in amateur sports, it's always the ref's fault. They're waiting....

The refs have been again the saints for ever.

Oh wait, you used gd, so I guess we need to stop now, because we know that's what you must say to get people to do what you think they should do. The horse isn't dead by the way and it's not going away.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands of people that read this forum that don't post and not all agree with it. Even if every single one did agree, pointing out the administrations mistakes or change of focus is exactly what this forum is for.
