  3. Default Wildcatters Sign Sponsorship Deal with University of Louisiana Athletics

The Lafayette Wildcatters recently signed a corporate sponsorship with the University of Louisiana Athletic Department. The Catters will be sponsoring football, basketball and baseball.

During the 2009 football season, Ragin' Cajun fans will be able to see instant replays, thanks to the Catters and another sponsor. The Cajundome scoreboard for the basketball team will also be sponsored by the Catters.

"We want the Wildcatters to sponsor UL and vice versa because we are not in direct competition," said Athletic Marketing and Promotions Director Eric Maron. "It will help both the Catters and the Ragin' Cajuns to become more visible to the community."

Maron believes that the Catters having the UL colors will be a good thing. "When people think of Lafayette athletics, they think about red, white and black."

Some of UL's football players made it to the NFL after graduation; but many have not.

"Having the Catters in Lafayette gives players a chance to play football even if they do not make it to the NFL," added Maron. "You never know who will be watching you play."

During the final two UL home games of the season, ULM on November 21 and Troy on November 28, fans will be able to interact with 2010 season Catter players and cheerleaders.
