COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS GAME PREDICTION:
Appalachian State (5-5) at Louisiana-Lafayette (7-3) Nov. 22, 5:00, ESPN3
Here's The Deal: All of a sudden, Appalachian State is a major player in the Sun Belt title chase. Despite being two games behind, it can ruin Louisiana-Lafayette’s run and can get to six wins and be bowl eligible, even though it’ll need a special provision to get in. Marcus Cox and the running game have been dominant over the last few weeks, winning four straight with close-call moments against ULM and Arkansas State along the way. The team has made a big turnaround, but now the really big test will come after the 37-32 shocker vs. the Red Wolves on the road.
The Ragin’ Cajuns have ripped off six straight wins and can take at least a piece of the Sun Belt title with wins over ASU this week and Troy next week. The ground game has been phenomenal, and while the defense was a disaster early on, it’s been great over the last several weeks only allowing more than 27 points once in the last five games, giving up 40 in the win over Arkansas State.
What’s Going To Happen: Can anyone stop Cox? Making a push for the Sun Belt Player of the Year. The ASU sophomore cranked out 229 yards against Arkansas State for his second 200-yard day in the last three weeks. Can the Mountaineers stop the ULL ground attack? No, and the terrific Ragin’ Cajun run defense will keep Cox under wraps.
Prediction: Louisiana-Lafayette 38 … Appalachian State 24
Line: Louisiana-Lafayette -10 o/u: 63
I'll take the over EASILY in this one
