Congrats to him. Hope he brings a bunch of wins to the Bayou.

  2. Default Advertiser Rebowe takes over Nicholls St.

Still, Tim Rebowe seemed relieved to be able to say Friday what many have known for a while now.

Great point Turbine. No longer known as the coaching graveyard, Could UL be starting to become the new cradle of coaches? I was a PO'd at Hud's blame the fans routine earlier this season. But he does set a pretty good example of coaching characteristics.

Never thought I would see the day. I was a student from 02-06. Great time to be a Cajun

Not flaming here, but how on earth could our secondary coach be selected for another job? Probably the worst position on our team. No knock on Rebowe, but surprising? Maybe because his recruiting talents that much outweigh our secondary play?

Maybe it's not his defensive scheme, or at least the one he plans to run at Nichols

Rebowe has previous ties to Nicholls. He knows the situation there and knows what he is getting into. He is also known as a good recruiter. And most importantly he is from the area and knows the people. One of the biggest complaints about the previous coach, Charlie Stubbs, was that he was an outsider who did not fit culturally with the locals and did not make an effort to reach out or fit in. Rebowe will be the polar opposite of that.

I think it's an all around good move. We do lose his recruiting abilities... but he's been doing that as a Ragin Cajun for a very long time. The inroads he's made belong to UL. And as far as competing with Nicholls State on talent... we win that battle. He's going to put a dent in the FCS recruiting talent that SLU, McNeese and Northwestern fight for. He's a deserving guy, he wants that job, he doesn't leave bitter... and we actually need new thinking that hopefully even trumps Hud's thinking on how to coach our defense.

Sean Payton was a pretty awful offensive coordinator in New York. He worked out okay in New Orleans in the grand scheme. Sometimes guys are better at running the ship than doing one specific thing. Plus, he's connected in the area. He gets to go home again.
