FYI:
LINKContributing to that ambience was a huge contingent from Southern, which despite losing 42-19 walked away with a payday somewhere near $250,000.
SU earned a $110,000 guarantee plus keeps all the revenue from 6,000 tickets sent to the school for pregame sales. Each ticket had a face value of $24.
I venture to say it was a tad bit more than that because UL sent GA tickets to sell because the others sold out within a couple of days.
Forget the precision of the exact amount it is probably safe to say the University netted between $600-750k... NETTED.... Now compare that to a 20,000 crowd at $22 euqals $440k minus expenses and students maybe we net $250-300k... So on the low end the incremental take was $300k...
My point in this mental math exercise? To those who say we cant afford a new coach, I say we cant afford to NOT have a new regime in here... I dont want to go down that route today... All is good and I hope all remains so and RB gets a life time contract for winning the Belt and a Bowl game...
But readers on here know I have long been a proponent of a new regime and these numbers bear me out... Again taking the absolute LOW side of the incremental take of $300k times 5 games means $1.5 million INCREMENTAL to the University... WINNING is what this should be about... so if it comes down to that argument again, lets not use the "We cant afford to make a change"... Folks IF it comes down to it we cannot afford to NOT MAKE A CHANGE...
Here's to this being simply an academic exercise and the discussion never seeing the light of day again... Beat KS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from what I heard that is the net income from concessions
I just heard a report that started by saying football fans like beer. It then went on to say that at the 1st memphis game of the season where beer was sold in the stadium over $100,000 in beer was sold which translated into nearly 40% of what the estimates were for the whole season. Hopefully our little roadblock will be overcome qickly so UL can begin to generate some much needed revenue.
