DEFENSE:
Last year we were HORRIBLE. Not the worst D in D1 but the seconr or third worst.
This year has already seen improvement with a good DC in Vic Koening (ex KSU player and was previously DC at Clemson). Last two years our guys were NEVER in postion and finally he has them getting in the right place. You cant tackle if you are not in the right place to correctly make a tackle. We are not "Good" by any means but much better already than last year.
D Line - Unfotunately our weak link. We have one stud at DE who will not play. There are 3 total that will be in street clothes. This unit applied no pressure last week and the QB had all freakin day to pass - so he did.
Secondary - Given the predicament on the front 6/7, they did great. You cant expect a DB to cover a guy for more than 4/5 seconds and they were doing it well last week. There are some pretty decent guys back there. However, UMass dropped 10-12 balls last week so we are vunerable if WRs have hands.
LB - much improved but I would consider us about "average" at best. Lots of heart but not studs who strike fear in anyone like we used to have from the 90's until '04.Average size, speed and are works in progress.
STs- Used to be our strength but last week almost cost us the game. The only two scores Umass got were because of our ST blunders - a blocked punt and we fumbled a PR they carried in. Banks as the PR and can be scary but only if he catches the damn ball.
Kickers are okay but again wroks in progress.
There you go. I expect a close game and whoever doesnt f-ck up the most will win. To put it honestly - KState is a work in progress that is improving over last year with the exception of our passing game and ST play.
I say a score KSU 28 ULL 17
