    Default KStater Defensive Q

    DEFENSE:
Last year we were HORRIBLE. Not the worst D in D1 but the seconr or third worst.
This year has already seen improvement with a good DC in Vic Koening (ex KSU player and was previously DC at Clemson). Last two years our guys were NEVER in postion and finally he has them getting in the right place. You cant tackle if you are not in the right place to correctly make a tackle. We are not "Good" by any means but much better already than last year.
D Line - Unfotunately our weak link. We have one stud at DE who will not play. There are 3 total that will be in street clothes. This unit applied no pressure last week and the QB had all freakin day to pass - so he did.
Secondary - Given the predicament on the front 6/7, they did great. You cant expect a DB to cover a guy for more than 4/5 seconds and they were doing it well last week. There are some pretty decent guys back there. However, UMass dropped 10-12 balls last week so we are vunerable if WRs have hands.
LB - much improved but I would consider us about "average" at best. Lots of heart but not studs who strike fear in anyone like we used to have from the 90's until '04.Average size, speed and are works in progress.

STs- Used to be our strength but last week almost cost us the game. The only two scores Umass got were because of our ST blunders - a blocked punt and we fumbled a PR they carried in. Banks as the PR and can be scary but only if he catches the damn ball.
Kickers are okay but again wroks in progress.

There you go. I expect a close game and whoever doesnt f-ck up the most will win. To put it honestly - KState is a work in progress that is improving over last year with the exception of our passing game and ST play.
    I say a score KSU 28 ULL 17

We don't truly know where we stand either. We obviously lost our stud RB and QB from last year but we feel like our QB this year is actually a better Dual threat guy while Desormeaux was a scrambler who was adequate in the passing game. You won't see any of our QB's running for 15-20 times per game like Desormeaux did. However, they are better passers and Masson showed that this weekend throwing for almost 300 yards. Some of that was broken coverages and such but he made good reads and was able to get out of trouble when pressured.

I know nothing about UMASS so its hard to compare. However, I expect to blitz more this game than we did against SU and I think we will be able to put some pressure on the QB which will hopefully create some turnovers. I think most people anticipate us slowing down on offense this year and while I don't expect to drop 700 yards on anybody like we did last year, I think you will see a more efficient offense.

I predicted a cajun win at 26-23 but I truly don't know what will happen. I do feel that it will be a close and good game either direction it goes.

I would say that our offense will run the ball more than pass which is opposite of what you all saw last year. We didnt run that many different plays at all last Sat. As I said in another post, I am so happy NOT to see Desm. at QB for you guys. He made our defense look like idiots. Also happy to see that bowling ball, stud RB you had last year graduate. I was at the game and saw them run all over us. I would say just by the Defensive coaching alone we would do better than last years D but thats only an opionion based on no facts.

It will be a close game I think and I will be happy to get out of there wth any kind of win.

    Good luck this year.

We don't have a Fenroy per say, but Sails appeared to silence the skeptics Sat. Night with a hard nose running style. Part of what Fenroy did so good was breaking tackles at the line and Sails did the same. His speed is not on the same level as Fenroy though. I think you guy's should have some success on the ground against us, we let a pitiful team gain over 100 yards on the ground.
