    Default KStater Offensive Q

Congrats on your victory Saturday. Sounds like you got it together that day. Help me out with your team, are you similar to last year (you gave us all we could handle) is there any new people in key positions...QB,RB ,studs that are gone,etc...

I will give what I know about our team (2 Threads - 1 offense, one defense):

    OFFENSE:
1.New coach with a different system offensively (Bill Snyder - our legendary coach that turned us from nothing into a contender for a long time) No short passing WCO that you saw last year - we run the ball much more effectively. He likes the dual threat style but we simply do not have the QB to be a scary threat. That is in the works (recruiting)
2.Brand new QB - Freeman is gone in the NFL. Our starter is Carson Coffman and he is inconsistent. More of a WCO QB that what Snyder likes but he is the best we have at this point. Not much of a running threat. Big tall lanky white boy that isnt slow but definately not fast, elusive. He is arm is "average" and like I said - inconsistant in the passing game.
    3. RUNNING GAME - last year we had NO running game ability at all. This year is different. We have two decent backs one in Daniel Thomas who is new - a power runner, strong and fast with moves (at least he had them last week). The other is more elusive Valentine, who is much improved over last year. Both ran well in our game Sat.
4.Recevier - Brandon Banks - smallest guy in D1 and I mean tiny but tough as nails. I will say he right now he is the fastest guy on the entire field next Saturday. A definate threat and was Big 12 offensive newcomer of the year last year. Look out for him to be our #1 target. Others are very good but not scary like Banks. TE's are "solid" with experience, good hands and much improved blockers - they couldnt block at all last year in the run game.

QB and RB from last year's team are in the NFL.

Consequently, we will throw it a lot more this season.

Yeah, we had a good game last Saturday, but the competition just wasn't there.

The jury is still out on if this year's squad will match last year's. A lot of answers will come against your Wildcats.

Hope you can make it to Cajun field Saturday. I guarantee you will have a good time in Cajun Country. Most people here would probably be more offended if y'all say we were not hospitable than if y'all were to beat us by 60.

We do have our LB corps back which was decimated with injuries last year so we have good depth with lots of game experience at that position. We lost our starting safety to graduation so we have some questions in the secondary. Hopefully we will improve greatly in that area between games 1 and 2. Also lost our PK from last year. It was a question mark entering game 1 for KO and FG. KO's in game 1 were serviceable but not great. The other kicker handled PATs and nailed them all. We did not attempt a FG so that question has not yet been answered.

Come to the game and be sure to make the rounds tailgating. You won't go hungry or thirsty.

I have to say that is music to my ears because your QB and RB kicked our _____ last year. I was at that game (I live in Tampa,FL).
If you throw a lot more this year against us you will not be tested much in your pass pro and probably have some success unless your Olinemen are weak or your WR's cant seperate.
We did pretty well against the run last week because guys were finally in the right places with the right lanes and gaps.

The big thing our defense will deal with is "conditioning" as far as the weather in the south in the 4th qtr. We have no depth on the Dline. They have practiced in hot weather, but hot weather with low humidity doesnt compare. You add the 80% humidity factor in and it is night and day. I know because I experience both climates. Hot is one thing - hot and humid is something you cant explain - you just have to live it to know the difference.
Thanks for the reply.I wont make the trip but I know some folks that will be there and are looking forward to it.

O-Line is definitely not week. They where opening holes that I could've run through Sat night. I also don't think there was a sack given up, but not 100% sure. Offense will be way more balanced than last year. We have got a lot of depth at reciever and some guys who can really make plays, I like our chances to move the ball effectively.

Just wishing for a good game and no injuries to either side.We cant afford any - no depth.

Please ignore the KU poster on here....their players/coaches know football very well - their fans dont. Their HC was taught how to coach the game at KSU and they just cant swallow that fact. However he CAN swallow a beached whale shark in one sitting.

Good luck on the season Cajuns (after this game of course)
