With a school-record crowd crammed inside Cajun Field, UL opened the season Saturday night with its first meeting against Southern University.
The Ragin' Cajuns gave the fans plenty to cheer about.
After facing a second-quarter deficit and early scare, UL used big plays on both sides of the ball to pull away for a 42-19 win over the FBS member Jaguars in front of 41,357 at Cajun Field.
"We played a good football game," UL head coach Rickey Bustle said. "There is no question we have things to improve upon. Offensively, we made some plays when we needed to make some plays."
