Best dang halftime show by a band, EVER!!!

_Most of the band members really don't care about the football game at all. (this is typical at many high schools today)

That's simply un-American and I don't want to live in a world where somebody at the game doesn't care about the outcome. It's because I was in the band that I got into the sports for pete's sake.

My point is people crave "LIVE" _

A lot of bands today sound like their recordings. Ever been to an Eagles concert. Don Henley won't put up with anything but perfection. UL just needs to add about 75-100 instrument playing members to their band because musically speaking they are very good.

_ The tbc "show bands" come from a completely different tradition and sensibility, in the same way that James Brown was different than the Beatles. The Golden Band from Tigerland is much like UL's band in its style and focus, only larger and better funded. The
GBFT is entirely funded by the athletic department and is related to, but seperate from, the School of Music. Their shows are no more creative than UL's, in the main. I suppose there are LSU fans who would prefer the bumping and grinding and the "blow the snot out of it" style of the tbc bands, also. But east is east....BTW, the numbers aren't that different...recent article on Southern said they march 176. UL seems to be around 150-160.... GBFT is 325. _

I will bet UL counts flag twirlers etc. We need more instrument players.

None of us here are denigrating your effort.

But you have to understand, whether you like it or not, to the average fan, the perception is exactly the opposite.

Fans that pay good money for the primary purpose of watching a football game and being entertained. Hearing the ESPN theme is NOT entertaining.

Do you really think we'd get anywhere near 41K if we took the football game out of the equation?

I will agree with you on one point, at least Troy's band gets it.

how about before the game started when the DJ was playing the Cupid Shuffle, only to have the Southern Band kick in and play it - and I hate that song, but I appreciated their spontenaity.

What was really surprising was that Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" was on their playlist too.

Cupid Shuffle is on their playlist. There's a clip of them playing it on YouTube. And I thought the same thing about Bon Jovi.
