As far as SU playing while you guys played, it's called taking control of the situation. If you are that quiet when you try to run this country, then we are in trouble.

So SU playing when we're on the field playing the fight song is "taking control of the situation"? The way I was taught, that is called disrespect.

You just don't have the same sense of humor that we on the student side do? There's nothing wrong with that, and I respect our difference.

BTW, resorting to name calling is classless.

They were angled to where their music traveled down the stadium.

I said in another thread that i feel like i've been watching the same ol' thing from the band every halftime since the 70's. It's not y'all...it's the director. If he would freshen up y'alls routine, make it fast! make it loud! make people want to stand up during your performance I'd bet my last dollar that more students would be interested in becoming a member of POA.
I agree on the placement. Don't you think it would be better is the band was one section over in the corner so that the sound would travel through the stadium instead of straight across? Also, I always thought the band was too spread out. Would they be louder if they we tighter together?

Probably so, but, where they were sitting, they could see us. Every time we'd get up to play, our director would look over to make sure SU's band wasn't playing. It would have been nice to get the same respect. We got that respect when Troy came over, we got it at ULM, and Texas A&M, hell we even got it at LSU A&M!

Unfortunately yes, it is taking control. Their team was coming out of the tunnel and they took control.

Call it whatever you want, I call it disrespect. We would have never done that if we were the visiting school. We would have waited until they finished then played.

I'm not a band person, but if we are at an away game and the Cajuns are coming onto the field, I want the PoA to play the fight song as loud as possible no matter what is going on. Take control and set the tone for the entire game. The band is part of the atmosphere and can pick the team up a notch by taking control and shutting down the other band.

I agree with this one....you play your fight song when the team runs out NO MATTER WHAT!

On the other hand maybe the SU team should have waited to run out a few seconds so the UL band could stop, SU band could start, and then the UL team could run out!

But NO MATTER what a COLLEGE BAND PLAYS IT'S FIGHT SONG when the teams runs out!!!!!! Like Nike, you just do it!

But your director was up higher and could look over the crowd that was standing. SU's band director was at the bottom...i don't know if he could see you or not.

IIRC Troy would start playing when POA was playing.

I was in the endzone opposite of the Southern band and that much close to POA; I had trouble hearing the POA at certain point (flute solo's...) and I as well as everyone else around me had trouble hearing the POA. They may have had trouble hearing the POA or just didn't care...the way they started playing when the announcer was still talking makes me think the latter...
