I have been an advocate of playing SU and McNeese for a long time... I am curious however about the comment on us not being accomodating.. I heard that from a SU fan I was speaking to walking into the game... Her complaint was the distant parking... I am not sure what we could have done about that.. The parking spots that are not designated to Season Tics and RCAF were filled up early.. There were legions of Cajun fans having to do the same??? SU got to keep the proceeds from 6k tickets plus you got to occupy all but a small portion of the student side... The tailgaiting areas were the same provided to Alabama, TEXAS A&M (capitalized to distinguish from Louisiana's A&M) Mcneese and others that bring a big contingent.... I would seriously like to know what "accomodations" were expected that we did not provide...
Having said that we loved having you here and I truely hope the powers at our university realize the benefit of having you here periodically and make it happen again soon... Good luck the rest of the way
I just did a little history tracking to find that in the 2002 opener Tulane prevailed over SU 37-19. The weenies finished that season 8-5 with a win over Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl.
Hmmm, could this be an omen......
Here's hoping the Jags go 10-1 and win big in that little get together on Thanksgiving weekend down in NO.
Well you know there are always fans that find the least or wrong thing to complain about. The only thing that I and most concern about was tailgating area but than that's because we're accustom to having enough area/space to accommodate our pit trailers and the like in our conference, we've probably gotten a little spoil.
As I said earlier all in all it was a great atmosphere.
Well, now everyone knows what to expect in terms of crowd and space needs, so maybe it will be better next time. There's no reason why you shouldn't have all the room you need for pit smokers and stuff. Visitor tailgating was probably an afterthought in preparing for a big day like that, and should probably be moved to the forethought next time. Cajun tailgating is always big, but our SBC foes don't bring a huge following.
Last time I went to the UL v. LSU game, we had to park about 1 mile away, if not farther. That comes with large crowds. If people want to show up at 5:00 and just walk in, then expectations are for 15,000 or less which is a joke. Success brings greater attendance, which brings parking problems and the need to walk farther distances. I'll take that any day over what we had in the past. I'm tired of 1AA crowds and game day atmosphere. It is time to step it up and deal with the things that come with success.
