I think he is referring to Tulane's Fridayy game against Tulsa where Tulane, per their usual policy, announcing the total tickets distributed (20,000+) as attendance when in reality those that watched the game stated the actual butts in the stands was much lower (some estimates ranging as low as 5000).

There will come a time that people will get tired of sitting in the grass on the hills. If you want to be taken seriously as a program, you don't want hay filled hills with trash thrown all over them for when you are on TV. Also, you will see many more of these games in the near future. You get Oklahoma State next year at home and not to mention you have Kansas State this week and depending on what is happening at the time, we get FAU for homecoming. What happens if we are 4-2 and 2-0 in conference. That is a huge game and possibly a sellout.
I would be willing to bet that due to the already bowled stadium, cementing the end zones and puting bleacher seats there would be cheaper to do than what we will spend on the Softball/Track/Baseball projects that were recently approved.

I would also be willing to say that a lot of the cost for a football seating expansion would be supplied by super-eager football boosters who have been craving such projects for decades.

I say that when we do the pressbox, do the end zone seating as well.

Well, from the indication I got from Mr. Farmer, I think that is what they plan to do. They want to do as much at one time as they can.

I think things went remarkably well. I was a little steamed up about not being able to park nearer to the tailgaters despite being there around 10:15 AM but I was able to park reasonably close (unlike other times in previous years) and was probably a misunderstanding on my part. The concession lines weren't nearly as long as for the McNeese game two years ago with 8,000 fewer people in attendance, and I must have been out of that parking lot after the game within 10 minutes.

There are reasons why they need to do as much at one time as possible (approvals/ funding/benefits). Personally, I'm getting overloaded reading all of the opinions expressed following the Southern game. It was a HUGE success... HUGE. Anyone ever heard of counting your Blessings? There isn't a single complaint mentioned that isn't known about and isn't on the list of things to do.

I used to think that some of these spurious haphazard nonsensical offerings would harm the progress on getting football on the right path. I'm finally, peacefully, coming to the conclusion that all of these expression-happy knuckleheads aren't really that involved in the work... so they aren't really all that included in the finished product... I'm counting my Blessings.

Absloutely a success. I'm kind of taken aback myself about the complaints because this is the best job handling a big event that UL has ever done.

Bingo! I think some people just can't enjoy the moment. Logistically, this game was the largest undertaking in the history of UL athletics. No, it was not perfect execution but it certainly was a major step in the right direction. Enjoy it and get ready for next weekend!

Actually, according to Farmer, the stadium enlargement and enhancements will include Suites that he said, along with increased attendance, will pay for the improvements. He also said they could sell the suites tomorrow. Right now, it is my understanding that the softball, tennis, baseball and track & field improvements will be completed before starting on football. All of that has already been approved and will be underway shortly. After a game like Southern where people can now visualize what a 50,000 seat stadium will do for us, I am hoping the timetable will be stepped up.

Just wanted to say that we really enjoyed our first UL football game. What an awesome experience! What I saw of the tailgating showed me that you guys really do it up good! Almost as good as us Wisconsin fans. We made it just in time for the parade in to the stadium with the band, etc... That was really cool. The game and the crowd were all great. We didn't get there early enough to take you guys up on your offer of a beer. Next time! Geaux Cajuns!
