Shawn Long is questionable for Friday's season opener

Washington is the real deal, not the most athletic but plays smart and will be a huge contributor. Look for Stove to step up big time this year as the season progresses. The hope is to redshirt Plaisance but if someone gets hurt and we need him coach will not be afraid to use him. If Plaisance is able to redshirt and gain some weight over the next 12 months look for him to mentioned as one of the all time Cajuns great. Coaches are very high on this young man.

Look for the team to run and press a little more, but you will not see much this Friday night. With a deep bench, being able to go 12 deep, look for this group to score some points.

Oh boy, we are starting with the "all time greats" talk? I hate when we do this to kids who haven't stepped onto the court or field and played one meaningful minute in a game. Not saying he doesn't have talent or he won't be considered in that manner but I just find it hard to see how people figure such things for kids who haven't played.

I wasn't. I just haven't seen him play yet and he has one exhibition game under his belt so I'll watch him closely but from what I hear, he projects to be an early contributor and overall solid player for us in the upcoming years.

How would I not like it if I don't read it? But seriously Melrock, don't you find it a bit premature to label a kid as such when we haven't seen him play in a meaningful game?

Fair enough, not enough sleep last night.

I bring it up because too many people missed out on watching Elfrid play because for what reason they did not like Marlin or didn't think these kids could play. As much as I love Elfrid this is going to be a better "team" and it is time for people to get behind them. I was one the guys that lived out of town during the Jesse era but still bought 4 season tickets for years. Marlin is doing it the right way and now he is winning. Not speaking to you on this point but NO MORE EXCUSE get out and support this team.

Fair enough and I agree. My biggest criticism on Marlin was his inability to bring in good high school players and just recruit in general. It appears that he may be debunking that a bit with some quality young players that he is bringing in. There is no debating his in game coaching skills and I too, hope that we generate more excitement. I did not buy season tickets this year but am still contemplating it but regardless, I plan to be there for a good number of the home games.
