If Brian Mitchell were our QB there would be a vocal minority calling for the back up. We just didn't have message boards back then.

PUT REKITA IN!!!
THIS is PRIMARILY what I have been saying.....
And that given this "fact," why haven't the coaching staff responded to shift away from excessive/forced throws to our VERY capable running game (including Broadway).
(McGuire should be running the ball 20+ PER GAME --not just SOME games....and not FOUR times in the first halves of too many games.....)
I believe The Prophet Elijah has had a little to do with the 400 yards being a fact. Also, most of 400+ yards against Tech didn't happen when it HAD to happen in quarters 1, 2 & early in 3. Buttox kicking had already happened when UL had the 2 scoring drives in the 4th qtr.
I see our offense as good but not maximizing near it's potential.....I see our missed potential has more to do with what isn't happening (or even attempting) vs is happening. Such as limited ability to stretch the field vertically (rarely even try anymore); passing accuracy on mid/deep routes, hard to argue that it's been mediocre at best, rarely are longer routes completed in perfect stride; Absolutely no need to double any WR or TE past 10 yards, especially true since Robinson was hurt.....most of those WR/TE running past 10 yards will be the same receivers that never get thrown to downfield anyway.
I do like Broadway's fire/leadership, drives where BW gets good yarage runs correlate into points. He's running the ball with some of that bullish attitude he had his sophomore year. Feet first slides before any contact are definitely lower this year.
OR....check this out...since we are talking about Broadway and follow me here. His BEST receiver and MAJOR factor in our game plan has a monster game against Southern and was on his way to the same against Tech then tears his meniscus. Out for 3 1/2. That means he is out for Ole Miss and Boise....a major piece is missing...we go into a slump. He comes back and helps us out of a slump and we get a much needed win. Then bamM...breaks his ankle early in the Texas state game. Do you think that would be difficult to deal with? ALSO...thunder and lighting have really only been healthy TOGETHER one game...stAte.
Its time to look at ALL the factors that affect the team and stop thinking that these very young men (can't forget TB is married and has a little one) are just that...young men that will have off days and make mistakes. And the coaches have to adjust for those bad days.
I really wonder what is said on the head sets. maybe an ex college coach can shed some light on it...probably wont matter though.
the entire team including the coaches have all gotten better and stepped up since boise st. game. I commend TB for being able to pull out of the funk, whether it was induced by him or playcalling that caused the funk. looking back, it may have been the mentality adjustment at practice and one game at a time that is the biggest reason fo rthe turn around. I think hud gave a veteran team the benefit of the doubt in the offseason and tried to keep every one healthy but in doing so took away the edge that made them win games in the past. The change in offseason, the preseason accolades and expectations, plus the ribinson injury just snowballed and made them press. I commend the coaches, the players and Broadway for stopping the bleeding and righting the ship.
