Thread: 3 Star Recruits

    Default 3 Star Recruits

Anyone notice that when UL signs a coveted 3-Star athelete, they never seem to figure into the equation and usually leave the team. or don't play.

    John Hundley
    Jordan Jackson
    Deon Wallace
    Jeremy Cook
    Rob Walker

Just to name a few. I just found it an interesting coincidence. I hope we sign many more players of this caliber.

Don't forget Ryan Glazer, a junior college defensive lineman from California. Transferred to UL in January 2008 but left school after mother got cancer. He was a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and a four-star at one point by Scout.com.

Robert Walker hasn't not yet panned out. He hasn't gotten the opportunity. I'll reserve my judgement since he will hopefully be here for the next 4 years

TE Tommy Briggs and WR Eddie Brown were 3 star recruits when they signed with other programs coming out of HS before transferring to UL. Neither made it here very long. Another DB Ricky Thomas although did play 2 years was not much more than a 3rd or 4th corner.

Jermaine Rogers was a 3 star DE recruit coming out of Mobile before we moved him to DT. He's been steady but not spectacular

I would go out on a limb and say that 80% of the guys we sign are not rated therefore only get a 2 star rating because they have signed with a D1 program. Also Grant Flemming was a 3 star until he committed to the Cajuns.

Well let's start recruiting 4 & 5 stars with the hope and expectations of landing a few.

No Grant Flemming was not a 3 star...on rivals he was a high rated 2 star by their point system.

Jordan Jackson, what a waste of talent. I still don't feel we used him enough. Didn't he have grade problems one year as well?

Yeah, but that still gave him 2 years left and you're right, we didn't use him nearly enough. He was unstoppable in the redzone his senior year and we used him sparingly then also.

I saw in the NO paper this weekend that one of our recruits LB Dwayne Mitchell committed to Minnesota. 1st team all-metro large school in their pre-season projection.

Article I saw said he visited Minnesota this summer. We can pray he visits again this winter. If he does, we still have a shot.
