A short-term memory comes in handy to a college football player roaming the defensive secondary.

UL defensive coordinator Kevin Fouquier preaches the importance of that mindset every day to his cornerbacks and safeties.

"They need to have amnesia and can't worry about that last play," Fouquier said. "Doesn't matter if you made a great play or they made a great play. You've got to focus on the next play and can't wear your feelings on your sleeve back there because the next play could be a touchdown."

The Ragin' Cajuns return nine defensive starters from last season, including both cornerbacks in junior Orkeys Auriene and sophomore Dwight Bentley.
