Thread: Masson, McGuire in duel to be UL's top QB

  1. UL Football Masson, McGuire in duel to be UL's top QB

LOUISIANA — Brad McGuire and Chris Masson knew as early as two years ago their University of Louisiana at Lafayette football careers would follow similar paths and perhaps reach this inevitable point.

It’s also no surprise to either of the two sophomores that they currently remain engaged in a fiercely competitive starting quarterback battle to start the season.

The two Florida natives born eight days apart say their size, throwing abilities and other skills on the field are making it more difficult for coaches to decide which of them becomes the No. 1 quarterback when UL hosts Southern University to open the season Sept. 5.

“We throw about the same, and we run just as fast. I guess that means it’s absolutely going to come down to which one of us makes the better decisions,” Masson said Sunday at UL’s media day.

“It would be nice to know who is going to be the starter, but it seems Chris and I have been competing since we’ve been here,” McGuire said.

They both looked good to me at saturdays scrimmage. Just by reading what people are posting on this board the fans seem to be split as well. Good luck to the both of them.
