Thread: Statement Made

  1. UL Football Statement Made

The big plays that UL head football coach Rickey Bustle wanted to see from his defense were few and far between last season.

On Saturday morning, the Ragin' Cajuns offered a glimpse of what they hope is a much-improved defense in their first full scrimmage of fall camp.

The defense produced five sacks and five takeaways — notably a 75-yard interception return by strong safety Chris Richard for the game's lone touchdown — in a 111-play scripted scrimmage on a humid day at Cajun Field.

Over the past few years the Cajun offense was ahead of the defense early in fall camp. Now the exact opposite appears to be the case after two weeks of practice.

I love to hear that Fouquier ran to the endzone and chest bumped Richard. I watched a lot of Will Muschamp at LSU and now at Texas. There is no substitute for being a good DC and having a great rapport with the players. That will make these guys move a mountain with their bare hands for their coach. I'm excited about seeing a really good defense take the field this year.

I have seen this Enthusiasm from Coach Fouquier before and I love it. This means alot to the guys who are playing. Just gets them even more pumped.

LOL. That was funny. DL coach Gerald had a knee wrapped up. It didn't look like he was doing any running.

I'd love to see a "Good" D but would really happy with a greatly improved D that can turn the ball over, get to the QB and win the field position battles.
