Not comparing talent levels, but it would be like having Jake Delomne and Brian Mitchell on the same team. That coach would have to make a decision. Who does he not like as a starter? Sure he likes em both but there is going to be a reason why he doesn't like one of them as the starting QB for his team. Hopefully Everyone stays healthy and we keep winning and we don't find out for sure until next year.
You cannot make any conclusion on who the qb will be next year. Our offense is built for a running qb. Nixon is the best fit right now. You will probably see a more pass oriented offense next year built for haack.

If the game notes for the USA game have Haack as #2 on the depth chart, then he is the back-up. I hope we won't have to find out during the game. That is all that matters.

Looks like we'll be a running team for the next few years. Nothing wrong with that. I just hate to see a great arm and all the potential at widereceiver and tightend not being utilized. Jmo
You draw a lot of conclusions from Nixon running one play, and a journalist writing an incredibly weak article.

Haack is ready to take over the team
right now. He has had plenty of work in games so far this season, and looked good. Nixon has not, and the season was supposed to include a bit of Nixon running the wildcat for a couple of plays. It makes sense to get him some work, and get the special plays that were drawn for him back into the game plan. That's it. Next season? Who knows. Right now? If Broadway goes down, we'll see Haack. He's miles ahead of where he was this time last year.

There is a reason that as a freshman Nixon was tried as an H back, but also kept on the depth chart as a QB

Somebody saw some obvious talent and a future in him (Tulane game)---I think that Prescott of Miss ST is the best QB that I have seen and Nixon is the closest to him in style of play!!! So if we are in a hurry up 2 minute offense guess who I might have run It???? Yes Haack!!!

Your talent for working Tech and Tulane into every conversation continues to reach fresh pinnacles.

--Our 2 biggest rivals in recruiting and playing---You don't enjoy the posts ---don't read---But I used them in this case because of their offensive philosophy of a much less QB run oriented style!!! BTW is it OK to use Miss State??? LOL

I would be willing to bet a C note that if Robinson gets his year back we go with Haack at QB.

HUD is not going to Miss St Stop that... Their fan base has been energized and will not settle for a coach with no signature win on NATIONAL SCALE...

So Mullen spends 6 years and finally gets Miss State to a #1 ranking, yet he'll leave after that year to go and do it all again at Florida. Pipe dream of a scenario there. Mullen isn't going anywhere after this year.

Hud made a coaching decision based on utilizing one of his players, who possess a skill-set that should cause him to excel in his read-option based offense. Therefore, COACH Hud threw one of HIS players a bone, in lieu of using an ineffective player under the circumstances. You just might be right about Hud A81, but I doubt it. Coach Hud was just being a good Coach A81. (friendly sarcasm)
I agree in principle with RE06 except on one key point "ineffective."

Haack has been just the opposite, even in an offense not taylored to his strengths.

Agreed. I've been saying this all along. Nixon is the better backup to Broadway. While Haack is the better qb to base the offense around in the spring. Plus, if something were to happen to Haack next season, I feel like the team would adjust better going from a more pocket passing qb to a scrambler rather than the other way around. That's not a main reason Haack should start next year, but it is a factor to be considered.

There are several reasons that Haack should start next year. Not the least among them is that Nixon cannot be depended on to put the needs of his team above his personal pleasure.

Side note: I'm not a big fan of zero-to-sixty discipline.

Side Q: Do mandatory suspensions erase the possibility of redshirting?
