Day 7

The Ragin' Cajuns practiced in shorts and shoulder pads on Thursday, covering 12 periods in less than two hours.

The offense and defense both used the practice time to continue installing schemes.

"Practice continues to be productive," Cajuns passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Jorge Munoz said. "We had a big install day today. Friday's practice will be all review for what we are going to run in the scrimmage.

The team will practice on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in preparation for their first scrimmage of the fall on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at Cajun Field.

Fatigue has started to creep in on the team as the speed and tempo of practice is at a very high rate and the daily temperatures remain consistently hot.

"The guys are starting to hit the wall a little bit," Munoz added. "We are trying to save their legs and the players are pushing through it. The play is spirited and the competition remains intense.

"The black jerseys are starting to add up, so (Thursday's practice) gave some other personnel groups a chance to get more reps."

Thursday's rotation at quarterback was no different than it has been in previous days. Chris Masson, Brad McGuire, Blaine Gautier, Keldric White and Brady Thomas all see time under center during practice.

"Chris and Brad continue to get the most reps," Munoz explained. "Blaine is doing a great job, but Brady and Keldric are pushing for that No. 3 spot as well.

"It's hard getting five quarterbacks reps."

Practice ended with a pair of team varsity segments that included first-and-10 scenarios and a blitz/blitz pick-up drill.
