Most of the firepower that helped generate UL's high-scoring offensive attack last season is gone with running back Tyrell Fenroy, quarterback Michael Desormeaux and wide receiver Jason Chery now playing in the pro ranks.
With so much talk focusing on what the Ragin' Cajuns lost, second-year offensive coordinator Ron Hudson truly believes that his returning players will have the same opportunity for success this fall.
"The overall (offensive) philosophy still remains exactly the same," said Hudson, whose team held its first practice of fall camp Thursday. "We want to force people to defend the whole field."
That approach produced some big-time numbers a season ago. The Cajuns set multiple single-season school records, including touchdowns (54), total offensive yards (5,390) and rushing yards (3,164). Their spread option attack ranked among the nation's top 25 teams in scoring, rushing and total offense.
