IMO, next to Brandon the best WR we've ever had.

I have a video of Roy throwing a td to him vs. McNeese---unreal throw and catch!!!!! Damn good player ----Coach Carl Smith told me that Coach Del Rio married his old flame----Tater kinda recruited the guy and girl---When Tater was introduced to her at a Jville function he(Del Rio) was surprised to hear them both say that they knew each other!!! Small world deal!!!!

David Oliver was an outstanding wide receiver in 1975 and 1976. UL has had many game changing wide receivers over the years but Puppy should certainly be included in that list. He was a JC transfer from a California JC and was hgihly recruited by many of the big college football programs in the country. Larry Zeno, USL's offensive coordinator during this time period, was a former quarterback at UCLA and recruited the Claifornia JCs. Puppy was one of the early "prize" recruits for Augie Tammariello and he lived up to the billing. He was an excellent route runner, had great hands and was deceptively fast (as several DBs would attest). One of my favorite David Oliver stories was at a team film meeting, Coach Tammariello was complaining to Puppy that he did not make an effort to block downfield. In the ever present California cockiness, Puppy said, "Coach, if I had wanted to block downfield, I would have gone to Oklahoma." What he did do well was catch the football and there have been few Cajuns that did it better.
