. . . Baldwin had 42 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns his senior year at GBHS, all coming from Brad McGuire, who enters fall practice at Louisiana as the Ragin' Cajuns' starting quarterback. A four-year starter at GBHS, McGuire led the Cajuns to a come from behind win over Arkansas State last season in place of the injured Michael Desormeaux.
Despite being the backup, McGuire had a higher completion percentage (66.7 percent to 62.8) and a higher passing efficiency (140.57 to 135.01) than Desormeaux, who graduated this past season. McGuire finished the season 20-for-30 with 223 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also had 143 yards rushing and two touchdowns, 57 of those yards coming in the Arkansas State win. He played in eight of UL's 12 games.
