Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns begin their 2009 season on Wednesday, the official day for all players to report. Head coach Rickey Bustle, beginning his eighth season at the helm, expects all 105 student-athletes in attendance.
While various players have been spotted in and around the athletic complex all summer, the entire team will officially come together for a team meeting at 2pm.
After the team meeting, the players will be whisked away for lengthy meetings covering several topics, most notably a long session on NCAA Compliance Education presented by the University’s Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance.
After a quick break for dinner, the team will take physical examinations.
The first practice of fall camp begins on Thursday at 3:30pm - rain or shine thanks to the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility.
Fall camp will last 21 days, with no practice being held on Sundays. Fall camp concludes with a scrimmage on Wednesday, August 26. The team will break camp and begin game-week preparations for the opener vs. Southern (9/5) a few days early starting on Thursday, August 27.
Acadiana is invited to attend the Cajuns Annual Fall Sports Fan Day on Sunday, August 23 at Cajun Field. A record crowd turned out to last season’s event and the athletic department has more in store for this season’s Fan Day. More information will be released at a later date on Fan Day activities.
