Thread: Cecilia's Davis picks Lady Cajuns Basketball

  1. UL Basketball Cecilia's Davis picks Lady Cajuns Basketball

Bianca Davis figures that her decision to play basketball at UL is a win-win situation.

After earning all-state honors as a junior, the point guard from Cecilia High School has verbally committed to sign with the Ragin' Cajuns. The earliest that the rising senior can sign a binding national letter of intent is during the NCAA's early signing period, which is Nov. 12-19.

"It's close to home, and I think I can really help the team out," said Davis, who is on pace to qualify but still needs to take the ACT. "I've watched them play a lot, and they really need a point guard to carry them.

"I feel if I go there that I can be a big help and help them get better."

Looks like a good one, how come she was only recruited by ULM, UL, McNeese and some D-II schools?

All State--19.9 points, 5+ assists and 3+ rebounds?????

    Does not make much sense.

She's a bit of a tweener. Some coaches unsure whether she's a point or shooting guard. Plus she's only 5-3, and her team wasn't very good, which limited her exposure.

And ACU is not just any a DII school. It's my alma mater!

The tweeners that can shoot usually make great 1s or 2s---the great shooters can usually be great points because of their threat to score!!! when they are overplayed they can dish it off!!!!

I would think the fact that she hasn't qualified to play her freshman year would be a factor as well.

That is a likely reason. Coaches will be all over a player they think is a can't-miss-kid, even if they're not academically eligible yet. With other recruits most programs are hesitant to be the first to make a move. In her case, she has the grades. Just needs to pass the ACT. Should have taken it already but didn't for whatever reason.
