Ragin Cajun Flags on Lightpoles in Lafayette

I don't know if this subject has been covered yet, but LUS is putting red ragin' cajun flags all over utility poles in Lafayette. Look up toward the top of poles around town and you will see them. Pretty neat!

They did this a few years back with those long red banners at all the big intersections and on and around campus. I love that somebody is doing something.

This has been going on for some time now, but if you notice, these banners are newer and are not faded and torn like previous. I believe UL buys them and LUS puts them up. It is not a city contribution other than access to the light poles. Anyway, it DOES LOOK GOOD AND THANKS TO CITY. This is PRIDE OF OUR UNIVERSITY at work.

I think I saw a city bucket truck installing/swapping them out, so if the city is doing the labor I'm thinking that's a fairly large commitment.

From what I have heard, the program was put in place a few years ago involving UL, LUS, and maybe a few other supporters. The ones from UL were possible through University Programs Council (UPC) and possibly Student Government Association.

Those were the old ones. From what I've seen, these are different ones from the ones put up a couple years ago.

I saw some utility crews putting new banners up on N. University on my way to I-10. Also, I never noticed this before since I never take the exit coming from the east, but when you exit I-10 @ 101 (University Ave) there's a giant painting on the concrete of UL. How long has that been there??

I saw them painting it when I was in Lafayette last time, which was June 26th.
