I agree with CajunConnection that Coach Hud's attitude at the QB Club indicated confidence that Jamal would get the redshirt approved. Note, QB Club members found out prior to the press about this. That is only because the luncheon was at 12 while the press conference was at 1:30.
I've attached the current version (2014-15). Doesn't seem like anything has changed to get a hardship.
12.8.4 is the applicable section.
All of the following must happen and the case is reviewed by Conference:
1. Injury happens in first 4 years of eligibility
2. Injury happens before second half of the scheduled season
3. In team sports, you cannot have participated in the greater of 3 games or 30% of scheduled or competed contests in the season (30% in this case)
Robinson has played in 4 games. It goes by games, not quarters. From what I see, there's nothing stated about bowl games but I have read that they are not counted in the final total of games in the season. From everything I see, he wouldn't normally get the extra year
HOWEVER, there is room to appeal here though:
12.8.4.2.1 Review of Denied Waiver. A conference that denies an institution’s hardship waiver may
submit the waiver to the Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement. The committee shall have the
authority to review and determine whether to approve the waiver based on circumstances that may warrant
relief from the application of the legislated waiver criteria. (Adopted: 4/20/09, Revised: 7/31/14)
Basically, a player can be granted the extra year even if it doesnt fit the criteria if there are extenuating circumstances. The hope is that since he was injured early in 2 of those games that we could get the waiver

Again, speaking to the appeal process, in a similar situation, a basketball player from Temple won his appeal this offseason and got an extra year. He was just over the 30% mark playing in 32.3% of the teams games.
So there is certainly hope, especially considering how little Jamal played in some of our games

UL senior receiver Jamal Robinson is out for the season after injuring his right foot in last Tuesday night's Sun Belt win at Texas State.
Make a bowl game and it brings his percentage of games played lower.
As I mentioned, I did read in an article about an Ohio State player last year that bowl games don't count. The bylaws were a little vague on that though so I couldn't confirm that
Here's the article. A little different in terms of games played. Only reason I used it is because the note about bowls

Man it sucks that robinson is out for this year but it sure would be nice if he gets a medical rs and is able to play again next year.
Not trying to be a douche. Why start another thread on this though?
