Thread: Jamal Robinson Out For Season

  1. #49

    Ragin' Cajuns Robinson

Man it sucks that robinson is out for this year but it sure would be nice if he gets a medical rs and is able to play again next year.

Not trying to be a douche. Why start another thread on this though?

For the moment, I think that replacing Robinson with a speed guy...capable of blowing the top off a defense is our answer. My first choice of players would be: Montrel Carter or Gabe Fuselier, with a random showing of Elijah McGuire. A viable deep threat should keep a defense from loading the box. Force the defense to defend the entire field and never allow a defense to crowd the line of scrimmage, stacking eight or 10 men in the box. My second scheme or option to replace Robinson would be to clone him, using: Jalen Nixon, Nick Byrne or Matthew Barnes to create size mismatches. A dominant offensive player can break the will of an opposing defensive player, leading to the offense taking control of the game...e.g., when Robinson is on the field. (Random thoughts)

Delvin Scott would be the deep threat

CC...I considered Delvin, but hasn't he struggled with this season?

He has only had a couple targets, throws haven't been great and he should have defended the pass that was picked off...but when he has been targeted he has had a couple steps on his defender

Devin and Gabe mirror each other in size. Not sure who is the fastest of the two. Both are dynamic athletes; however, I give the edge to Gabe. More than certain that there is room for both to excel in our system. We just need someone to step up, and be a gamer!

I like Gabe a lot and think he needs to be used much more...we need to use everybody more, spread it around all over the place.

Fuselier is a slot receiver with great hands and quickness, Scott is a deep threat with blazing speed but is probably not as natural of a ball catcher. Different types of players

After watching Tuesday I will say emphatically that Eli is our best deep threat.

I couldn't agree more; however, his skill set can't be limited to being a deep threat. The Cajuns need a permanent replacement for Robinson. We need someone to step-up as a WR.
