Robichaux announced the addition of three additional signees for the 2009-10 season. Daniel Nichols (New Burgh, Ind./Wabash Valley CC), Lance Marvel (Texarkana, Ark./Texarkana CC) and Trask Switzenburg (Cave Creek, Ariz./Chandler Gilbert CC) have signed national letters of intent to join the Ragin’ Cajuns for the 2009-10 academic year and play their first season of baseball in 2010.
Nichols, an outfielder, hit .394 with 21 doubles, 17 home runs and 79 RBI last season for Wabash Valley CC. He tied for seventh nationally in RBI and tied for 11th in homers. He earned All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference and All-Region 24 honors.
Marvel is a utility player who can catch and play both infield and outfield. Last season at Texarkana CC he posted seven home runs, 12 doubles and 41 RBI in 175 at bats. Rated the nation's 255th-best prep prospect by Baseball America out of high school, he hit .370 with six home runs as a freshman.
Switzenburg can play either third base or shortstop. Last season at Chandler Gilbert CC he posted 50 hits in 169 at bats, posted 10 doubles and stole 20 bases. In 2008, he hit .344 with 10 doubles, 17 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.
