I don't buy the idea that not pounding Southern somehow projects which direction our season will go. Nor, do I believe that how we perform against L-State and Nebraska-Lincoln tells us much either.

Thanks in large part to the McNeese Cowpies' visit in 2007, I don't see us losing to Southern.

Hey Cajun defense, just contain and shut down Southern QB Bryant Lee and the rest falls into place.

I say congrats for all of your hard work guys and looking forward to watching you perform in your senior year!!! _
Well then, I would say you are kidding yourself. I am very happy for these two to be on this list, but we have to have some standards. We cannot continue to accept mediocrity and "always look at the positive". Yes the young men work hard, that is a given. I do not blame them, but something sure isn't right when we continue to have one excuse after another as to why we can't turn the corner. I am just tired of hearing the old adage "well, next year..." when next year NEVER seems to come.

Its a PRESEASON POLL!!!! It doesnt matter, it just means that the general media/coaches dont know much about the team. On offense, we were justly represented. On defense, the players are going to be in this system for the 2nd year and plenty of our best players were hurt last year so the media wouldnt rightfully put them in the All Conference selection if they were out all year. If next year, we dont have a few on defense, then we know that there is a problem, but I cant say that we should have more. Who else would you put? Circumstances dont dictate giving more than 2 spots unless there was another Olineman we could have squeezed in.

if we place only 2 on the team at the end of the season, well, i predict you will have much company in the dissatisfied department. but then again, we could have a team full of steady, productive players who pull together as two units, get the job done, win a bunch of games, including a conference championship, plus a bowl game, and remain a team of no-names. yeah, that's the ticket!

Well that is what I am hoping for! I am just very tired of this program floundering and was having a bad day yesterday, so I guess I "jumped the gun" a little. I am done getting my hopes up though, as I have had too many years of disappointment to expect anything. I will not give up, but will be cautious from now on. Thanks for the patience guy (and gals).

My belief is that these 2 young men will lead the way to a very successful running game and show that it all starts up front. If other areas can rise to the occasion, we will have many reasons to cheer.

If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I am sick and tired of being soo bad. We talk of moving to another conference, but we can't even place more than two on the all conference team pre-season? _
The only people talking about going to another conference are people who still think Elvis is alive and last week had an alien probe their anus... or was it Elvis?

How would our season last year identify any other players worthy of preseason all conference honors? On offense we completely saddled up Fenroy, MD and Chery... as if no one else on the team mattered... so a lot of them now don't in the preseason worthless information circles. You pay a publicity price in the following year when all you talk about and most of your focus is on 3 senior skill players. Our defense was riddled with injuries, so who exactly would the league choose from on our defense (and that includes special teams)?

Troy and FAU made it to a bowl... they got an extra game, nationally televised, that helped promote some of their players showing up on the preseason list. We return senior OL that get and should get credit for our offensive numbers last year. That is all this preseason stuff essentially means.

The only thing 90% of the fans, and 100% of the rest of the league knew about UL was Fenroy, MD and Chery. Don't worry... Troy didn't have Chery, Fenroy or MD last year... and they kicked our butts. There is nothing wrong with loving the marquee skill people... but it takes the entire team to execute a good gameplan to win football games. It is all wide open... once again. Enjoy it.

I agree with that. We are more than capable of going 6-2 in conference play this year without three great athletes. I think that the biggest ticket will be the job the coach's do keeping the team on track and not be to predictable, which they have been the last four years. Defensive coaches need to get it together. Perhaps it was the amount of young players we had, but that D looked a bit like a highschool team at times last year. I think the talent is there, just need some more experience.
