Doesn't this just make you sick. This season should be fun, look how bad we do when we are actually expected to do something. If we suck once again, Bustle has to be shown the door.
If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I am sick and tired of being soo bad. We talk of moving to another conference, but we can't even place more than two on the all conference team pre-season?

No it doesnt make me sick. Know why, because Preseason All conference polls are absolutely stupid. Last year only Fenroy, Fisher and Edmiston were selected and we were voted 6th place, yet by a miracle the preseason poll was overcome and we finished 2nd in the conference after having the most BRUTAL injury record in the conference. Oh, we also had the Conf Player of the Year, Offensive POTY, 4 First team all conference offensive players and 3 total 2nd team honors as well as other honorable mentions.

If you thought we sucked last year, get a life. We got horribly screwed by the injury bug and still were bowl eligible as well as finishing 5-2 in conference. I know this will turn into another Bustle debate, but it shouldnt. I hope that we do improve next year and think we can. I think this coaching staff finally has consistency in the staff as well as a tremendous amount of experience on defense and the O-line.

Well we had all of those accolades and STILL did not make the post-season. I, for one, am sick and tired of the excuses. It is always something that prevents us from having success, and excuses are for losers. We just had the most productive rb in LA history and a damn good qb leave, so we can't rely on them now. I want success, but can't wait around anymore to toil in failure. One or two good years a decade just won't cut it for me.

Edit.- If we don't put a POUNDING on Southern, then I am afraid that the season will be lost once again. This will be a very important game.

You are making these points in a thread based on PRE SEASON ALL CONFERENCE SELECTIONS. If you want to make a thread, by all means do so. I think a thread with a poll saying, how many losses would it take to fire Bustle would be more appropriate. Again, this article/poll is here to have some news in the middle of the summer. Its pointless.

    What he said...

IMO, the key word for the 2009 UL Football season is, drumroll please... "DEPTH"

This could be an awesome season because of it...

Agree. I'd rather have quality across the board then a smattering of pre-season all conference "picks". One or two great players doesn't make a good team. You need good depth, and I don't mean just the starting 22. While I believe we will need a few breaks this season to have a winning season and make a bowl, it is not out of the question. Regardless, I'll take post season all conference selections any day!

You're making my point for me. You proved that by losing these great players we had that your expectations haven't been changed and I don't think that is logical. BTW, that damn good QB was hearing people before last season say they thought he should not even be our QB but rather a WR or a DB. If the fans were always right, we'd be in trouble. We also didn't make the postseason because of many factors outside of our control. There were 6-6 teams that made the playoffs but we weren't one of them.

The injuries that hit this team last year are not excuses, they are fact. If you actually watched this team last year against Kent St. and then consequently watched against UTEP or Troy, you would have seen the toll those injuries took on us. Guys like Kyron Benoit were supposed to benefit from a redshirt year to get bigger and learn the LB spot as he was a QB and Safety the year before! You can't expect this guy to step in as an undersized and inexperienced LB and just make plays. The same goes for the Devon Lewis, Chris Richard and Matt Desormeaux's of last year.

The level of play last year before the injuries was the best I've seen maybe ever. The offense was unstoppable, the D was efficient enough (Just ask Juice Williams) and the coaching staff was using the personnel we had and adjusting to their strengths.

BTW, it seems that this is a year for which you were expecting this team to be loaded due to your outrage of our lack of representation on the all-SBC team but this team has to replace some serious production over the past several years and namely leadership. I will be a bigger judge of this team's play on the field and the coaching staff's ability to gameplan and manage its personnel than I will just by wins and losses.

I agree with everything you said except this. If Juice Williams had any accuracy that day, we lose easily by 28 points. Just one example: He over threw a reciever on a deep route by at least 20 yards with no pressure. Saw it with my own eyes.

" I will be a bigger judge of this team's play on the field and the coaching staff's ability to gameplan and manage its personnel than I will just by wins and losses."

That is where I think the problem begins. We say this every year and when we lose winnable games, we say... "well at least.....". We need to improve and win now. We are less than two years removed from the McNeese debacle and could have another if we tank against Southern. I hope I am wrong and just being "Negative Nancy", but we have usually followed these almost good years with awful years.

We just need to stop having these "moral victories" and just win some damn games or the rest of the Belt will leave us behind.

You're kidding right??? Instead of feeling good because 2 of our guys made this list, you feel bad because it wasn't more then 2? Wow..talk about a glass half empty. It amazes me sometimes how totally out of touch some people are with this team. Wish you could see how hard the young men work to actually make that list...to even get a chance to play. I say congrats for all of your hard work guys and looking forward to watching you perform in your senior year!!!

I disagree somewhat. The Southern game is only important if we lose it.

If we beat Southern by 3-4 TD's, I will not have any better expectations for the season (5-7).

If we lose... say hello to 2-10.
