It has become obvious that our AD sees certain C-USA schools as relevant competitors. I think that he views eventual membership into that conference in La Tech's best interest. I'm just going with the flow.

There is no way La Tech would be better off in the Sunbelt. It's the worst conference in the country. _
The Sunbelt conference is where we are at. Let's try to be the best at the cards we have been dealt. This is a young conference and in my humble opinion much better then the WAC. Exactly why would our AD care what is in the best interest of LaTech? Why would you say that? I personally could care less what conference LaTech is in and I am sure our AD has better things to worry about then LaTech.

I was talking about what would most benefit both schools. At any rate, good luck to you.

I should mention that I have no problem pulling for the Cajuns. In fact, I'm still smarting from the NCAA tournament game against Louisville that you guys should've won. Plus, I almost bleached my hair that last time UL made some noise in the college world series.

I hope y'all beat LSU this year. I'm the type of guy who doesn't resent the accomplishments of others--especially those programs that face similar obstacles as La Tech. Whatever you guys accomplish doesn't hinder our team--if we fail to succeed, that's on us, nobody else.

That said, Tech is the only team that I really support. My loyalties are: Tech, WAC brethren, LSU (I'm from Baton Rouge, but I'd still like to see them get taken down a notch by another smaller state program), state schools. After that, I like to see certain teams lose (OU, USC, Texas, and others).

I've listed the same priorities on our board so I don't really care if others disagree.

Before I forget and we move on to other matters, this is exactly what these debates are about.

The WAC is a fine conference and if UL was located in Idaho, Utah or California or on Pago Pago I'd say we should be a member.

Just to get back on the main topic:

Jindal may expand panel on education

The so-called Tucker Commission to review higher education in Louisiana may expand after some college officials expressed concerns about being left out.

Last week, Gov. Bobby Jindal appointed only LSU and Southern University members.

But Jindal said Monday that he and House Speaker Jim Tucker are working on adding two commissioners from the state’s University of Louisiana System and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, whose officials were not included initially.

I would settle for a top 3 sunbelt finish for the next 5 years...

Sounds like a good step-though not a prefect one because the added members would likely not be voting. Looks like a good idea to focus on bringing in outside [non-partisan] ideas-but if you are really going to reshape our system-also seems like you need input from the components to that system as well to come up with something workable.

  8. Default Louisiana college revamp panel may grow

BATON ROUGE, La. -- A panel that will look at ways to rework Louisiana's public college systems may expand after some college chiefs expressed concerns about being left out.

Gov. Bobby Jindal says he and House Speaker Jim Tucker are working to add two commissioners, from the University of Louisiana System and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, to the nine-member Postsecondary Education Review Commission. Jindal last week appointed only LSU and Southern University members.
