    Ragin' Cajuns Number 48

    47 < > 49

Can anyone think of a former Ragin Cajun who wore number 48?

Steve Judice, a hard-nosed cornerback from Lafayette High, wore # 48 from 1973 to 1976. Steve was a tremendoous run stopper and had a total disregrad for his personal safety when playing. I have seen Steve hurl his body into pulling guards to break up sweeps without regard to the physical consequences. Some say he might have gotten hit in the head a few too many times. LOL Steve still goes to the games and supports the Cajuns.

I think Juice was 72 - 75. Have to tell this story. In 1974 Juice was on the sideline standing next to Coach Sam. Sam was not happy with whoever was in at corner and looked at Juice and said "Judice get in there!" Judice got caught up in the moment and sprinted out onto the field. He made it to the hashmark and realized he didn't have his helmet on.

Judice was 48. 43 was Billy Hairston, then Walt Slattery.

There where two Steve Judices one played latter than the one mentioned. The second Steve Judice played in the 83-86 or somewhere around there.
