Thread: Preseason magazines have few expectations for Cajuns

  1. UL Football Preseason magazines have few expectations for Cajuns

When it comes to the predictions made in college football preview magazines every year, UL linebacker Grant Fleming does his best to ignore the banter. Right now, the rising junior is more focused on getting healthy and returning to the field this fall after missing the final seven games of last season with a knee injury.

"I don't really care what people say," Fleming said Thursday after a workout. "Last year, we weren't predicted to be that good of a team and we ended up having a pretty good season.

    "Predictions are just predictions."

That approach will certainly come in handy for Fleming and his teammates this season.

It's relative. It is all according to the circumstances. It's like saying "is a little bit of rain considered good". When you're in a drought, a little rain is good. But, very little time passes that "a little rain" doesn't cut it. For UL, it is past time for a deluge. Unfortunately, we have a system that pretty much peaks at 6 wins. To get that extra win or two, as a norm, takes extraordinary measures. No extraordinary measures to elevate Cajun football will occur without the unbridled involvement of Dr. Savoie. It cannot be "substantial"... it has to be "gigantic"... in order to make a slight uptick in results.
