_ The BIG difference between last season's defense and those that preceded it during the previous decade was the impact of injuries. I saw the defense play fine at several points in the season and I was left with the belief it could have been far better with just a little luck (i.e. fewer injuries). The personnel and coaching were there.

By the way I have never in all my years seen a school's entire Fall/Spring sports season so adversely affected by injuries. _

The most amazing one was to Ashley Brignac. That was the one that cinched "a curse is upon us" theory for me.

I'd say the worst by far was LaRyan Gary's.

Correct, when healthy this is the D that shut down a Heismann candidate and his high powered offense on the road. This D was good enough last year if and when healthy to help us win. Assuming they are improved this year, that's one step closer to getting where they need to be.
