""I think most that follow softball have heard about Fico. It remains to be seen if she will live up to the hype. It'll be interesting to see, because from what I have heard, she hasnt faced the talent level of the girls in TX and LA""

You are right. Dani Hofer had the same type of hype and had a couple of pretty good years, but nothing "great". Then her last two years she was injured, so who knows what will happen with Fico.

This happens with a lot of players with a lot of hype. They come from regions where the athletic talent is not that good and they dominate. Who knows this girl might come in and be a shut down performer but only time will tell.

    I no NOTHING about softball...

But a career ERA of .006 is scary good regardless of what region you are from...

That should "I know nothing", which I am certain you will agree with; but again, no edit feature any more :-)

Not if you're pitching to blind 5 year olds. It really makes a difference who you compete against, that's how you improve. Not saying the competition is terrible, but its not equivalent to CA and the south. She obviously has talent, but if it translate to Hofer talent or Brignac talent, remains to be seen

Well, Hofer was from Florida, so I'm sure she faced good competition. Also, Hofer did have talent. She was 24 - 3 her Sophomore year at LSU. But, her wrist injury forced her career to be "good, but not great".

Yea of course. Just using her as a comparison. She wasnt one that didnt have it, more that she didnt reach that level initially thought of. I probably should have said level instead of talent

I can only go by what I've seen and what I've heard and try to formulate an opinion. People remember how much Runyan struggled last year at shortstop at times. She finished with 20 errors. Guess who was second on the team? Verde with 15 errors. Her fielding percentage was only a shade better (.902 to .890) than Runyan's.

Bridges' strength is theoretically at the plate. She makes some awkward catches at first base (basket catches on balls thrown chest high). They could take Bridges off the field and have her focus on hitting. Or they could keep her at first, I'm just speculating. They could also move Melissa over to first (still a corner position and because of left-handed slappers, she'd be valuable at first) and put either Granger or one of the freshman (Waterman) at third. Another option is Christi Orgeron at first. That's something they may take a look at this fall.

With seven incoming freshman, there will definitely be competition at every position. That's why I said we could see a completely new infield (besides catcher and pitcher). We could also see the same infield as last year with a new shortstop.

As for the statement about other reserves leaving, there is currently one other reserve player going through the transfer process. It's not a surprise that she's leaving. When the transfer becomes official, and the school releases it, it'll get reported.

It's good to see Yvette building a program with former Sun Belt players. The SEC better look out!

And that's why I didn't mention any names out of respect for the players and the program. Best of luck to those ladies in their endeavors.
