You will never hear what you want to hear from Coach Hud, in a public setting like a press conference, or 99.9% of all coaches, for that matter. That's why they call it coaches speak. The days of a Coach Mora talking "we couldn't stop the run, we couldn't run, I don't think we even tried to run" was special for sure (I'm paraphrasing). Who knows what he's going to do, except try his hardest the way he knows how. I believe he wants to win (Hud) and I don't agree with everything he does, but remember, he is still learning as a head coach.

I'm not happy about much of anything going on with the football team right now but I hold hope that Hud is motivated to get it figured out simply because the longer this goes on the further away his shot is of making a big time program, and I don't think he's cool with that.

I also have been quick to criticize Jay Johnson, but I'm getting the feeling he's not even the one running the offense

Him, the other coaches, the players they all want to win. I promise you HUD isn't thinking about another job, he is trying to win Tuesday night...that's it. The guy works constanly at trying to win. He isn't sitting at his desk staring at his resume.

    would be nice
If our defensive players were so great during Rickey's years, why couldn't we win more than 6 games, but Hud can win 9 games a year?

Bustle fired his defensive coordinator following UL's best defensive numbers in a decade.

    He never recovered.

Nearly half of Bustle's time here were 11 game seasons, not 12. 1 less game per year to win.

Bustle played a tougher schedule with more P5 games.

The NOLA Bowl and the SBC changed the rules on who gets to go to the bowl. Bustle had to win the league outright to go. 1 more less game per year to win.

Bustle inherited a shell of a roster. Hudspeth inherited a fully stocked cupboard with future pro players on it.

I've studied this for a while. I could go on and on with statistics, but the environments surrounding this program were decidedly different for both coaches.

    Records are not completely comparable.

We used to put defensive backs in the pros on the regular. Now we can't put em within 10 yards of the nearest offensive player.

So basically we just needed to give Rickey more time as coach. Got it

Hud inherited from Bustle better defensive backs, wide receivers, kicker and Quarterback than he has now.jmo

Never said that. Don't know why you would make that assumption.

When this thread turned to reminiscing back to the Bustle days......

    I really can't believe it.
