I think coach gave him a year to show what he had and this year coach is not impressed. He also did not do any favors when he attempted to leave after one year. I do understand it was Florida State but you have only been here a year.

the writing may be on the wall
??? The guy turned down twice the salary and half the stress to stay here. I applaud him for that, don't know many people who have the integrity to do that. None if us know the whole situation, this guy has coached with HUD before, his DC actually. Maybe hud's defensive philosophy is actually this guys philosophy but HUD doesn't quite know how to coach/explain it. Maybe he can give an unbiased opinion on the situation. I don't see what's the point of calling people's character as a man into question when I'm pretty sure hardly anyone on here knows james willis personally. He passed up a chance to provide for his family and probably have a chance at a national title to stay here because he felt he owed it to these guys. I'm not blaming much on willis, when Greg Stewart was let go and I quote" I want someone to come in here and teach the 4-3...someone who can really teach it. That is janes willis." The odd thing is, I'm still seeing the same scheme that greg Stewart ran, I don't think that's a coincidence.

Since when are we able to hire someone without legislature approval?

Since the money is not coming out of the athletic department.

I also heard that Charlie Weis has been hired as an offensive consultant.

The man comes in as a consultant, most consultants that I know work as an independent, unbiased 3rd party that's paid as per a contract aka 1099'd. At some schools, they call this the Defense/Offense Quality Control Coach or Advisor as a "member" of the staff although he may be paid from another pool of money. You can't have too many good coaches around. And remember, Willis is DC, but he also coaches the linebackers, right? What's the root of much of our D's problems....linebackers. Care to connect the dots...

I would say the Cajuns problems go far beyond just the linebackers. They have coverage underneath, but are not responsible for coverage over the top and at the back end of the secondary. There is plenty enough blame to go around on the defensive side of the football.

J1M, all of that is our job, consider us on this board as unpaided insultants.

played a round today.. Had the yeeps, and I thought about the consultant hire on the way home. I'll agree, sometimes a different point of few (ie a buddy critiquing your backswing rather than a coach telling you to focus forward) can sometimes massage new ideas into existence. Change focus, or provide an Ah ha moment. Not usually, but sometimes..

So here's to a long shot. Hopefully it works

According to HUD, he will not be hands on with the players, simply another set of eyes and another voice in the coaches room. He will be here through the season and as I Suspected was involved with the game plan for Georgia state. We actually ran a 3-2-6 at 1 point with no ILB's just 2 OLB's. HUD told willis this is in no way a guy coming to replace you. I have no problem with it if the staff can make it work. If HUD is helping out a friend who can help us out at the same time, I'm all for it.
