Thread: UL adds defensive consultant to staff

I think he has already consulted, I saw some surprising new faces and some new formations Saturday, a couple times I swore I saw what seemed to look like a 4-2-5. I could be wrong though, it was national vodka day.

Did that make you feel better?

And he's not a hired coach. He's a consultant. Let him consult. Evaluate the results.

I agree with tge 4-2-5 look. Best defense to stop speead teams. Only one catch. You have to have one hard hitting safety to play in the box sometimes and one safety that can cover a lot of ground in coverage.

I love the 4-2-5. As I said before TCU and McNeese has used it as an equalizer when they had less size and talent on defense.

If someone runs a bad scheme, then hired someone who agrees with said scheme, how the hell is that productive?

What will make me feel better is when pusses like you put down the Kool aid and realize we have a frickin problem

If executed correctly. Not only do we
Not communicate, we run the prevent style of that scheme.

  7. Default UL adds defensive consultant to staff

UL coach Mark Hudspeth confirmed this morning the hiring of former Texas Tech defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt as a defensive consultant.

The 3-4 is not the problem...it's the way we run the 3-4 that is the problem. While I agree is much prefer seeing a different scheme (4-3 or 4-2-5), we can't really blame the 3-4 for our problems. Our defense is run poorly regardless of scheme type. We are bailing out at the snap and leaving guys in the slot wide open. Going back to last year anytime a team uses motion our defense gets completely lost. That's not scheme, that's coaching. Multiple times during the GSU game I knew who the pass was going to presnap and if I can see it from the stands our coaches should be able to see it.

I realize we have a problem. I also realize that we are not ____ing alabama. Get over yourself. Better yet, call ole Hud up and offer your services for half the price of what he's paying this guy. I'm sure he'll jump right on it because you clearly know what you are talking about and are the better option in the situation. We have lost one game this year that we should have won. As long as most of the time, we have more points than the other team when the clock strikes 0:00, I really don't give a ____. Until we turn in a 3 win season, shut your damn trap. Otherwise, you sound like a damn tiger fan. Funny thing is, that's not the first time anyone has accused you of that on here.

I'd rather sound like a fan that pushes for progress than a putz. Ppl like you have a defualt setting. Anyone who disagrees with stagnant decision making sounds like a tiger fan! Have you morons ever sat and had a conversation with a real tiger fan? The delusional type that complain for the sake of it? Show me one instance where my posts meet that criteria..

Keep your losers mentality and average standards the hell away from me and everyone else trying to push forward.

So when Hudspeth goes outside of his coaching staff for help with an obvious problem, your push for progress is condemning him and assuring us that it won't change anything. Got it....

I will admit that when I think "shutdown defense", the Red Raiders are pretty far down the list.
A question about Rebowe. Bill bentley, white, etc were good but not lock down studs when they were here. They get free agent deals in the nfl and we find out they are really good DBs. I dont think UL coaching turned them into NFL caliber type players. Is it possible that Rebowe cannot coach these talented guys to their full potential? Is it possible that with a different coach they would have been studs at UL? We always seem to be moving guys around n the back end. Just a thought.
