They ran when UL was in their nickel/dime, and passed when the Cajuns were in base.

Now, the execution wasn't always there. But the plan was a good one.
They didn't throw it all over the field on us like some were expecting. We kept them below their season avg passing. A few drives were extended on personal foul penalties which meant we made the stop. Defense looked improved to me.

Fake punt and 15 yard sideline penalty wasn't the defenses fault either.

The part I think people are still missing is that we were over matched by Ole Miss and Boise talent wise. I'm not sure about LaTech, but I do think they are better than we all expected. We are in Sunbelt play now and we are as talented if not more than everyone we will play. That, along with fixing some of the defensive play, will go a long way.

Yall keep saying we're so much more talented than everyone in the belt, and it's just not true. It's a myth perpetuated by coaches and media. Break down (light) by position, to this point in the year:

    Offense
QB - Slightly above average (considering performance this season)
RB - elite for the SBC
WR - Above average, and only because of one player. It's going to take one Def Coor in this league to figure out, shut down Jamal, Cajuns are toast on offense.
O LINE - a work in progress, but still Prob a top 3 run blocking line in the belt. Depth is a problem.

    Defense
D LINE - top 3 in the league, highest potential in the league IMO.
LB - coverage, below average. Run stopping, average. Lack of speed, and recognition.
CB - Bottom 3 in the league. Talented but handcuffed and our best athletes are kids.
Safeties - haven't been taught their responsibilities or just flat don't understand where they need to be on the field. Back side can and has been had. For that reason, bottom 3.

    Special Teams
Cadona - outstanding. Top 10 in the nation.
    Stover - still a mystery.
Other than that, ST has not affected a game yet this year. Hasn't (positively) in a while.

I agree. I think we have recruited playmakers on offense but outside of the DL have not recruited guys who are playmakers. This might be an issue of inexperience but Moten was the only guy I can remember that this staff recruited on defense that has been a big time playmaker for us.

We are as talented as USA, stAte, ULM, Texas State
We are more talented than App St, Idaho, NMSU, Troy

I, for one, have not said we are "so much more talented". I've actually been on the other end stating that we are still a sunbelt team with sunbelt players.

Kinda off topic, but the thing the scares me about App St is how well coached of a team they are. Prob took a step back at QB, but they will be tough going forward.

If that consultant can just help us get off the field on 3rd down two more times per game, he will be worth it.

Speaking of that..... Can we please get rid of hell's bells on 3rd downs? It gives me nightmares because when I hear it, it means an automatic 1st down for the other team.

    No kidding.

Talk about a waste of energy to stand and scream for every 3rd down.

My advice, sit down, save your voice, and try to figure out how they are going to get the first down. It's fun.

I better not hear any complaints about the fans not being loud enough after our next home game
