UL - Former University of Louisiana at Lafayette Police Chief Joey Sturm has been tapped to serve as ULL’s chief once again.

The university announced that Sturm’s appointment is pending approval from the University of Louisiana System.

Sturm is expected to report to duty July 16. Sturm, currently training director for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, previously served as training director for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sturm served as ULL police chief from 1997 to 2002 and began working for the department in 1988 as a student officer.
