Thread: Roberson status still up in the air

  1. UL Basketball Roberson status still up in the air

Lamar Roberson's future at UL remains cloudy.

Roberson, a forward for the men's basketball team, did not dress out for the final seven games in his first season with the Ragin' Cajuns after transferring from UNLV. The Baton Rouge native averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 14 games as a junior.

UL coach Robert Lee told The Advertiser that there's still work to do for Roberson, who is not a scholarship, to rejoin the team for his final year of eligibility.

I must say I'm kind of surprised that Lee is even considering giving this guy another shot at joining the team. I know he did the same thing with Southall but this is a crucial year for not only this program, but for Lee's future here as well. I think I'd want to trim the fat and make sure I go into the season with the best mental mindset possible. This guy clearly doesn't have the team's best interest at heart and while he's talented, he hasn't stuck anywhere he's gone so he obviously has some issues.

And there are your two reasons that he could be let back on the team. I'm not saying I agree with them but I can see why. He has talent and he's a big presence on the court. This team has a lot of talent and, like Boyd posted in a previous post, I hope Lee is able to do his part and coach them to the NCAA Tourn.

As many as he ran off he can do with bringing a few back.

If Roberson doesn't like or respect or sing camp fire songs with Lee, then why did he come in the first place? He doesn't have a scholarship, he wasn't starting every game, he wasn't wow-ing anyone with this play. Cut your losses and let the kid go somewhere else and not like his coach/be a distraction. He wasn't that great of a player anyway.

While he may not be a great player, he is easily one of the best player on the team. If Roberson can grow up and mature as a person this summer, he could be that spark that this team (especially Lee) needs.

With all your faults --------Your intrinsic motivation is unmatched---Just quit ____ing the world off with your negative posts--and be positive with your true love for our teams!!!!! I realize the thin line!!!

In what game did Roberson show you he was one of the best players on the team? The Louisiana College game? He looked damn good in that game, but what other game. He looked terrible in every other game.

He looked good in both of the North Texas games.

Also, does anyone know how La'Ryan has been doing lately?

I recall his best game being against ULM. That was his second game since becoming eligible. Wildly inconsistent outside of that game but a load of potential.

Well let's hope Lee does his job and brings that talent out (if he's let back on the team). It would be a beautiful thing to have a PG that tall.
