Vctor Oladipo, not Elfrid Payton to start at point guard for Orlando Magic?

Elfrid Payton was impressive in summer league while Aaron Gordon looked like a bit of a project.

However, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders believes Victor Oladipo will be the point guard while Payton comes off of the bench much like Oladipo did last season.

They drafted Payton because Oladipo didn't fit at the point and was a more natural 2 guard. Payton has by all accounts been impressive in summer league and practice since then. Payton will sit on the bench with Oladipo starting at point guard instead of letting Payton, Oladipo, and Gordon go through their growing pains now. The Orlando Magic are the Orlando Magic for a reason.

Lol, we'll see how long that lasts. Elfrid will be starting this year, no doubt about that.

I don't think this is for long. Gordon's best days are 5 years behind him and they will eventually move Oladipo back to SG and have Payton start at PG. Probably just want to work him in slowly and let him develop the weak parts of his game.

Orlando did the same thing in the summer league games. In the games that Oladipo played, he started at point and Payton came in off the bench. This will ease some of the pressure on Payton. I also think this will be short term move because Payton will be a starter based on his production.

Payton will be starting tonight. Don't know how old that article is but Oladipo straind his MCL in practice last Friday and is still day to day. To bad there's no TV for the game though

This is only one reporter's opinion and coming from the team. I could see both ways for the first game in New Orleans. One bring him off the bench so he is not to nervous or two let him start and feel the home town love and fire up the Magic. Either way Geaux E, I will be there supporting you.
