Thread: Ashley Brignac opts for surgery

  1. UL Softball Ashley Brignac opts for surgery

UL star softball pitcher Ashley Brignac will spend the summer rehabbing her right shoulder after undergoing surgery last week, her father told theadvertiser.com on Tuesday in an exclusive interview.

Limited as a sophomore during the 2009 season due to problems in her throwing shoulder, Brignac turned to acclaimed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Brignac's surgery was done last Wednesday in Birmingham.

"She had surgery, and it went well," said Brignac's father, Joe Brignac. "We're just glad it's over."

She should have opted for surgery after her freshman year.

I know you guys are joking about the LSU-grad thing, but Dr. James Andrews is the best in his field. I fully expect Ashley to make a great recovery with him as her Doctor.

Yes Dr. Andrews graduated from LSU, LSU Med school, and Tulane residency. He is still a Louisiana Boy, he is from Homer, LA. But, you might not know that he had a daughter graduate from UL. I think her name was Amy, she was a Phi Mu and graduated around '91 or '92. I remember she had a brother named Archie but he did go to LSU. All this is to the best of my recollection so don't quote me.
