Yea, announcers are kind of dumb, it was pretty obvious, was standing on our 25, receiver was on our 24, even if it was the 24 1/2 it's a a FWD pass and it wasn't that close in my opinion. Bigger question is how can there be a penalty on a play that technically didn't happen.

Why throw a pass short of the first when the receiver has no chance and is covered by more than one?
