Word from his coach is that he is in Summer School right now and if he passes those classes, he will stay at Alabama and be eligible. If he doesn't pass, he will be at Gulf Coast Community college. We are not in the running.

I'm not exactly sure how he chose Bama over LSU considering that LSU never offered him a scholarship? LSU opted to sign Michael Ford out of Leesville who was recognized as the top RB in the state. I wish LSU would have signed both guys but it always seemed like a one or the other type deal. Having said that, I'd much rather see him stay in-state and play at UL.
Originally, LSU had Ford and Pratt committed, they didn't have a scholarship for Lacy. After it was announced Pratt was cut lose, LSU coaches did come back to talk with Lacy. I'm not sure he was offered anything officially because he was not eligible. He did stay firm with his commitment despite overtures from LSU and several other BCS programs.
Correct, I followed the recruitment of Lacy fairly close. IF he would have had the grades, I'm confident that LSU would have offered him from the start. LSU also signed RB Drayton Calhoun from Georgia that also can play CB. It's a damn shame these kids can't make their grades, it's not as if they are asking for them to do a lot.
While I agree that its a shame, some folks may not realize the extreme changes that have occurred in NCAA requirements...
Previously, say 3-4 years ago, 12 core courses with appropriate GPA were required, in 2008 that increased to the current requirement of 16 credits, which is pretty much 33% more difficult to maintain.
At Southern Miss in 2007, someone told me that close to 20 players, all of which were on track to graduate the next Spring mind you, would not have have been academically elidgble to enroll 4 years prior had they been required to comply with the 2008 NCAA regulations...
I hope Eddie makes his grades, I think he is lacking 1 math class at this point...
Well, I guess this is what you get when high school athletes only have to maintain a 1.5 gpa to partipate in high school athletics. I really hope they raise the standard to 2.0 which is very attainable in Louisiana public schools.
